What TPEE is
TPEE (the Toptronic® Prompt Engineering Editor) is a Windows desktop app that helps you write better prompts for AI tools like ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Kimi — deliberately, instead of free-typing and hoping. It splits every prompt into thirteen sections (Persona, Instructions, Context, Technical Specifications, Format, Audience, Tone, Data, Examples, Graphics, MCP Servers, Verification of Results & Outcome, Agents), checks each for completeness, and scores the result 0–100 so you know when a prompt is actually finished.
It runs 100% offline. No account, no telemetry, no network calls — you can verify that with a firewall. Your prompts never leave your machine until you paste them into an LLM yourself.
Who it's for
- Prompt engineers and developers who prompt for work every day and want a repeatable structure instead of retrying a vague prompt until it lands.
- IDE users — it formats and exports the same prompt to 50 IDE profiles (Cursor, VS Code, Claude Code, Copilot and more), so you write once and ship the right shape to each tool.
- Students and self-learners learning the craft, with a 94-lesson Learning Center and 282 quiz questions.
- Teams who want shared templates and canvases without a cloud subscription.
- Embedded and hardware engineers — it even ships an offline dev-board catalogue with a Cheap Yellow Display reference.
Who it isn't for
- Mac and Linux users, for now. TPEE is Windows 10 and 11 only. It's a native Rust/egui app and we'd rather support one platform properly than three poorly.
- People who prompt once a week. If you only occasionally ask ChatGPT a question, its own box is fine. Structure pays for itself when you prompt every day.
- Teams that need cloud prompt logging and A/B evaluation. TPEE is an authoring tool, not an observability platform. If you need PromptLayer or LangSmith, use them — or use both.
The honest limitations
- It doesn't call any model. TPEE writes, scores and formats prompts — it never runs them. You paste or export into your own LLM tool. The savings are in how you prompt, not in a built-in model.
- It's a new product. There are no third-party reviews yet, no "10,000 customers", no enterprise case studies. If you need social proof before buying, this may not be for you yet.
- One-time purchase, and a free trial rather than a free plan. There is a 14-day free trial — the full editor, no card — and every paid plan after it is $49–$299, one-time, helping cover the infrastructure of running the project honestly. Within 14 days of purchase you can ask for a refund and we do not ask why; a refund is paid minus the costs it carries — the terms of purchase say exactly what those are.
Who makes it
TPEE is built and supported by Toptronic® Limited, run by Jacques and a small team in Hong Kong. No chat bots, no ticket queues — when you email, a person answers. Prices are in USD; the app itself never phones home.
